History of Grama Panchayat
“Kumbla” is a historic land known for the legacy of the Ballal and Mayippadi dynasties, freedom struggles, and rich cultural diversity. Named after the kumbha-shaped river, the region is home to traditions like Yakshagana and Kambala. It is also the ancestral village of former Indian cricket captain Anil Kumble. Historically, Kumbala was an important port town engaged in the export of handloom products, rice, and dried fish. The first Grama Panchayat administration was formed in 1963 under M.C. Abdul Khader Haji.
